The Boat People Riding High

The Boat People have been selected to showcase at the CMJ Music Marathon in NYC. They’ll also be touring the US with a live set on influential L.A. based radio show KCRW “Morning Becomes Eclectic”. They play Spaceland (Silverlake, L.A.) on 18th October with more shows to be announced. Finally the band swings past the UK for a follow up to their May trip where they wowed the poms at The Great Escape before heading home.
Back on home soil, the band’s single ‘Awkward Orchard Orchid’ has been getting a hammering on Triple J while their newly released second album Chandeliers has been getting nothing but shining reviews:
THE BOAT PEOPLE’S CHANDELIERS REVIEWS
MESS AND NOISE:
“A genuinely great Australian pop album that can comfortably stand alongside acknowledged classics like Woodface, Granddance or 16 Lover’s Lane….superb mature pop music, as good as anything you will hear in this genre this year. International recognition beckons” – Mess + Noise
SYDNEY MORNING HERALD (FOUR STARS):
“This is a second album carefully balanced between the sheer pleasure of pop music and the wit of smart song writing. Chandeliers songs have a casual elegance and a droll eye but they are subordinate to what feels like real emotion, meaty playing and tunes that constantly entertain. The Boat People are the real deal”
